Medical Cannabis Finally! Ireland to Legalise Cannabis for Medicinal Use
As sellers of CBD Oil, Medical Cannabis Oil, Cannabis Oil, Hemp Oil, Medical Hemp Oil and other Cannabidiol products for the Ireland market, we have to admit that we are pretty pleased with how 2016 turned out, not just for us, but for the global cannabis legalisation movement.
In the US, California became one of the seven states where the recreational use of marijuana has been legalised by the state.
Medicinal use of marijuana has been approved in 26 other states in America. Peru and Uruguay have legalised marijuana for medicinal purpose and Canada is moving fast in that direction.
So what about Ireland? Well, we got a lot of good news for you.
Cannabis is all set to be legalised for the treatment of a number of medical conditions in Ireland, such as epilepsy, intractable nausea and many other ailments. The scheme will be in place for the next five years, and extended beyond that based on inputs from experts.
The decision was taken in response to a report from the HPRA (Health Products Regulatory Authority). According to The Irish Times, the report said,
Access to medicinal cannabis is ultimately a societal and policy decision which has to balance the lack of scientific evidence against patient-led demand.
Professor Tony O’Brien, who heads the HRPA, said that he was happy to advise a restricted use of cannabis products for various medical conditions.
“I believe this report marks a significant milestone in developing policy in this area. This is something I am eager to progress, but I am also obligated to proceed on the basis of the best clinical advice.
This comes after the Irish Parliament passed the Cannabis for Medicinal Use Regulation Bill 2016” on December 1, 2016. A couple of Independent TDs, Gino Kenny and Brid Smith, were the brains behind the bill, which was passed unopposed.
It is surprising that no politician would argue against such a landmark legislation, but it is easy to understand why.
In an opinion poll conducted by the Irish Times/IPSOS recently, an overwhelming 81 percent of the respondents said that they were very much in the favour of legalising medicinal cannabis. So, it’s hardly surprising that the politicians would oppose something that has the backing of the vast majority of the public.
It does look like the much hated War on Drugs is officially over.
The next step before cannabis activists would be to get legal sanction for the recreational use of cannabis. After all, California has done it, why not Ireland?
The people of Ireland have nothing against the recreational use of cannabis. It is considered normal here.
Ireland grows some of the best weed in the world, everywhere from Cork to Donegal. Plus, there is a whole range of medical cannabis products sold online, by several online sellers.
